What this notice covers
This notice covers information used when you browse this website, make a finance enquiry, contact us by email or phone, ask us to progress a finance application or contact us about a dealer partnership. Other organisations involved, such as lenders, credit reference agencies, fraud prevention agencies and dealers, may act as separate data controllers. They will provide their own privacy information where required.
What information we collect
- Identity and contact details, including your name, email address, telephone number and communications with us.
- Enquiry details, including the vehicle, amount, deposit, preferred term, mileage, budget and other information you choose to provide.
- If you ask us to progress an application, information required by the selected lender, which may include your date of birth, address history, residential status, employment, income and expenditure.
- For dealer enquiries, business contact details, dealership details, postcode, VAT status and website or stock page links.
- Technical and security data created when you use the website, such as your IP address, browser and device information, requested page, time of request, referrer and spam or security signals.
Please do not put unnecessary special category information, criminal offence information, bank details or identity document details in a website free text field. We will explain how to send information securely if a lender needs anything else later.
Where we obtain information
We collect information directly from you through website forms, email and phone calls. Where relevant to an enquiry or application, we may also receive information from a vehicle dealer or introducer, a lender, a credit reference or fraud prevention agency, and public business or regulatory registers. We do not buy marketing lists.
Why we use information and our lawful bases
- Finance enquiries and applications: to understand your requirements, discuss finance options, introduce you to selected lenders and take the steps you ask us to take before a possible finance agreement. We rely on steps at your request before entering a contract.
- General and dealer correspondence: to answer questions, assess and manage potential dealer relationships and keep proportionate business records. We rely on our legitimate interests in operating and developing our brokerage and responding to people who contact us.
- Website operation and security: to deliver the site and forms, prevent spam and misuse, diagnose faults and protect our systems. We rely on our legitimate interests in providing a secure and reliable service.
- Regulatory, fraud prevention and record keeping work: to meet FCA, financial crime, accounting, data protection and other legal requirements. We rely on legal obligations and, where applicable, recognised legitimate interests in preventing or detecting crime.
- Complaints and legal claims: to investigate concerns, exercise or defend legal rights and meet our complaint handling duties. We rely on legal obligations and legitimate interests.
- Electronic marketing: only where you have consented or the law permits us to contact existing customers without separate consent. Every message will include a way to unsubscribe. A finance enquiry does not count as consent to marketing.
Our legitimate interests are responding to enquiries, operating a responsible brokerage, managing dealer relationships, maintaining service and information security, preventing fraud and keeping records that help us resolve questions or legal claims. We consider the necessity and impact of this processing and do not rely on legitimate interests where your rights and interests override ours.
Information you need to provide
Fields marked as required on an enquiry form are needed so that we can identify and respond to the enquiry. You do not have a statutory or contractual duty to make a website enquiry, but we may be unable to respond or find relevant options if required information is missing. If you ask to proceed with a formal application, the lender may require additional identity, affordability, fraud prevention and regulatory information. The application cannot proceed if required information is not provided.
Who we share information with
Depending on what you ask us to do, recipients may include selected lenders; credit reference and fraud prevention agencies; vehicle dealers and introducers; regulators, ombudsman services, law enforcement bodies, courts, insurers and professional advisers; and suppliers providing hosting, forms, email, security and IT support.
Netlify, Inc. hosts this website and processes submissions made through native Netlify Forms on our behalf. Microsoft group companies provide the Microsoft 365 infrastructure currently used to route our business email. Google LLC receives technical request data when it supplies the website fonts. Volentio JSD Limited, trading as jsDelivr, and its CDN providers receive technical request data when animation libraries are delivered on relevant pages. Google and jsDelivr state that these services are not used to create advertising profiles of visitors from these requests. We do not sell personal information.
Credit searches and automated decisions
Submitting a website enquiry does not itself run a credit search or produce a credit decision. If you ask to proceed with a formal finance application, a lender or its credit reference and fraud prevention partners may carry out eligibility, identity, affordability, fraud and credit checks. A formal application may record a hard search.
A lender may use automated systems or profiling when assessing an application. Before a relevant search or application, we or the lender will explain the proposed check and provide the lender's and relevant agency's privacy information. This will include any information required about how the automated assessment works, its likely effects and how to request human review or challenge a decision. Fynex does not make a lending decision through this website.
International transfers
Some service providers and their subprocessors process information outside the United Kingdom. Netlify, Inc. is based in the United States. Netlify's current Data Processing Agreement states that restricted UK transfers rely on the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable, with the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and UK International Data Transfer Addendum used as fallback safeguards. You can read the Netlify Data Processing Agreement.
Microsoft, Google and jsDelivr's CDN providers may also process technical or service data internationally. Where UK law requires a transfer safeguard, we rely on an applicable UK adequacy regulation or contractual safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to approved standard contractual clauses. Contact us if you would like more information or a copy of the relevant safeguards. You can also read the providers' current Microsoft privacy statement, Google Fonts privacy information and jsDelivr privacy policy.
How long we keep information
- Website and finance enquiries that do not proceed: usually up to 12 months after our last meaningful contact.
- Dealer partner enquiries: up to 24 months while we consider or manage a potential relationship.
- Records relating to arranged finance: up to 6 years after the relationship ends.
- Marketing preferences and suppression records: for as long as needed to respect your choice and demonstrate compliance.
- Technical and security records: only for as long as reasonably needed to operate, secure and investigate issues affecting the service.
Netlify form copies and business email records are managed within the relevant period above. We may retain a record longer where a law, regulator, complaint or legal claim requires it. At the end of the applicable period, we delete or anonymise the information.
Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access your information, correct inaccurate information, request erasure, restrict processing, receive information you provided in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Rights are not absolute in every situation.
Your right to object: you may object to processing based on legitimate interests. You have an absolute right to object to the use of your information for direct marketing. Email sales@fynexfinance.co.uk or call 01234 377788 to exercise a right. We will normally respond within one month and may need proportionate information to confirm your identity.
Data protection complaints
You can make a data protection complaint by emailing sales@fynexfinance.co.uk, calling 01234 377788 or writing to our registered office. Please describe what you believe went wrong and include enough information for us to investigate. We will acknowledge the complaint promptly, investigate it without undue delay, keep you informed where appropriate and tell you the outcome.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Visit ico.org.uk or call 0303 123 1113. You do not have to contact us before approaching the ICO.
Security and children
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encrypted website delivery and restricted access. No internet or email system can be guaranteed completely secure, so please use only the requested fields and do not send unnecessary sensitive information by free text or ordinary email.
Our finance services are intended for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly invite children to submit personal information through this website.
Cookies and similar technologies

We review this notice when our services, providers or legal obligations change. We will publish material changes here. Where appropriate, we will also tell affected people before the new use of their information begins.
